Sudden Syrian Decision Impedes Crossing of Jordanian Trucks Document

Khaberni - Dr. Dhaifallah Abu Aqoula, head of the clearing and goods transportation companies, confirmed that Syria has decided to prohibit the entry of foreign trucks into its territory except for those passing by transit, starting from last Friday.

He stated in a declaration today, Saturday, that the decision included not allowing the entry of foreign trucks into Syrian territory through the land border crossings, while the transfer of goods between Syrian and non-Syrian trucks takes place within the customs area at the crossings (back to back).

He pointed out that the decision excluded trucks passing through Syrian territory as transit, with the customs patrol taking on the task of escorting them between the two crossings.

Abu Aqoula noted that the decision, which came suddenly, has disrupted the movement of Jordanian trucks towards Syrian territory, and will affect the exports of the kingdom, especially the construction materials that enter in large quantities.

He highlighted the presence of large numbers of trucks piled up at the Nassib crossing from the Syrian side, both Jordanian and Gulf trucks, due to the decision, urging swift communication with the Syrian side through the joint technical committee that connects the two countries in the transport sector.
