Khaberni - Jamal Al-Rifai, the First Deputy Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, discussed with a delegation from the Credit Risk Analysis Department of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the role played by the chamber and its contributions to the development of the private sector, and ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement from the chamber on Saturday, Al-Rifai pointed out during the meeting held at the headquarters of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, to the available opportunities in the national economy that can be utilized and attract foreign investments, particularly Japanese ones.
He highlighted the advantages and incentives that the kingdom offers to business owners and companies, including its strategic location, security and stability, a package of modern legislation, and trade agreements that connect Jordan with various global trade blocs.
Al-Rifai emphasized the importance of Jordan becoming a main gateway for reconstruction projects in Syria, noting the significant coordination and genuine partnership between the transparent government that monitors long-term investments and the private sector, to achieve growth, sustainability, and implement the economic modernization vision.
On his part, Mohamed Tahboub, a member of the chamber’s board, mentioned the presence of several economic sectors that achieve outstanding success stories, especially information technology, pharmaceutical industries, clothing, food industries, alongside some distinctive service sectors that possess preferential export advantages.
Members of the delegation indicated that (JICA) is an independent governmental organization with a wide network of overseas offices to promote international cooperation, and it is an executive arm for Japanese official development assistance.
They mentioned that the agency aims to support sustainable economic and social development in developing countries, including Jordan, through providing technical assistance, concessional loans, grants, and building institutional capacities, and implementing projects in vital sectors such as energy, water, health, and education to enhance development.
They indicated that their visit to the kingdom focuses on cooperation in the fields of technical support and knowledge transfer through the implementation of training programs and joint projects to transfer expertise and Japanese technology, aiming to enhance developmental partnerships and cooperation to implement national development priorities.
They clarified that Jordan is a major partner to Japan, confirming that the most recent visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Japan will enhance export opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic relations.
