Khaberni - Dr. Jenny Davalos Marin, a dermatologist, points out that itching often accompanies some skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis, scabies, urticaria, and psoriasis.
However, itching may be a less obvious sign of conditions not directly related to the skin, but to other diseases.
The doctor confirms that itching may indicate liver function disorders, including primary biliary cirrhosis, and may be associated with chronic renal failure or thyroid problems.
The doctor also points out that other factors causing itching include neuroendocrine gland tumors, lymphoma, diabetes, and the use of certain medications such as antibiotics, antidepressants, and blood pressure medications.
She further confirms that the constant desire to scratch can be caused by psychological stress. She said: "Itching caused by stress can occur at any age, but is particularly common among women aged between 15 and 40 years."
According to the doctor, ignoring this problem could lead to the development of anxiety and depression, making it essential to recognize the cause of the itching early on to maintain overall health.
