Khaberni - The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has achieved a new global milestone, adding to its record filled with pioneering achievements, after winning first place globally in the category "Best Innovation Accelerator" at the Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI) Awards for 2025.
According to the Emirates News Agency "WAM", the award is given to entities that make a tangible impact in innovation ecosystems around the world.
In detail, Sheikha Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector in the Roads and Transport Authority, stated that the "Innovation Accelerator" program in the authority aims to optimally benefit from the innovations of startups in mobility fields that align with the authority's strategy and the UAE's directions in this field.
She explained that this is done through searching for startups, evaluating them, and supporting them to develop and apply their innovative solutions inside the authority, and in collaboration with strategic partners, to activate and strengthen the role of partnerships between the public and private sectors, and raise the innovation maturity index in the authority. She clarified that the program has proven its effectiveness as an integrated operational model in enabling innovation and accelerating the adoption of advanced technological solutions.
Al Muhairi said that this global recognition confirms the integration of the innovation system in the Roads and Transport Authority, where the "ScaleUp Mobility" program, launched by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department at the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector in the authority, has established an effective institutional model for enabling innovation and linking it with operational outcomes.
She added: This success has enhanced the role of the Roads and Transport Authority Center for Mobility Research and Innovations (TRIP), as the innovative and practical arm of the program, by providing supportive infrastructure and transforming research and innovation outputs into practical, implementable solutions, ensuring that the innovative initiatives align with the future directions of the mobility sector and the long-term strategies of the authority.
She pointed out that this win represents a global confirmation of Dubai's leadership in governmental innovation, reinforcing our commitment to developing a smart and sustainable transportation system in partnership with startups. The "ScaleUp Mobility" program exemplifies a successful model for linking innovation with actual operational outcomes.
The award was announced during the award ceremony of the Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI), held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with broad participation from a selection of innovation leaders, decision-makers, and representatives of government and private institutions from various countries around the world.
