Khaberni - The Norwegian royal princess, Mette-Marit, wife of Crown Prince Haakon, expressed her renewed apologies on Friday for her friendship with the American financier convicted of sex crimes, Jeffrey Epstein, in one of several scandals that hit the royal family in the Scandinavian country, according to Reuters.

Princess Mette-Marit, in a statement issued by the royal palace, also apologized for the awkward situation she caused for the royal family, particularly the king and queen.
The new files related to Epstein, which were published last week by the US Department of Justice, include extensive email correspondence between Mette-Marit and Epstein after his 2008 conviction for sex crimes against children.
Mette-Marit had previously apologized for continuing her contact with him, saying she had demonstrated poor judgment.
The Prime Minister of Norway said on Monday that Mette-Marit and other prominent Norwegian figures named in the latest Epstein documents released should provide more details about their relationship with Epstein.
The Norwegian royal family is already dealing with several other challenges, as Marius, the son of Mette-Marit from a previous relationship before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, is currently on trial for rape and domestic violence charges.
