Fatalities and injuries following a suicide bombing at a mosque in Pakistan Video

Khaberni - The Pakistani police said that a suicide bombing targeted a mosque in the capital, Islamabad, today, Friday, resulting in at least 20 deaths and 80 injuries, according to media reports.

Zafar Iqbal, a police official, stated, "the explosion occurred during Friday prayers".

He added, "We have transported a number of people to hospitals. I cannot determine the number of fatalities at this moment, but yes, there are deaths."

A police spokesperson mentioned that the nature of the explosion has not yet been clarified.

The incident comes amid escalating armed activity in Pakistan, months after a suicide attack last November killed 12 people and injured 36 outside a courthouse complex in Islamabad.

The Islamabad District Administration reported that the injured were transferred to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment, confirming that security forces had imposed a security cordon around the explosion site.

A spokesperson for the district administration stated, "the site of the explosion was completely closed," while the Islamabad Police spokesperson, Taqi Jawad, explained that the explosion occurred inside the "Imam Bargah."

The authorities have not yet announced a final toll of the victims or the party responsible for the bombing, while investigations continue to reveal its circumstances.
