Khaberni - A well-informed source in the Middle East reported that the United States and Iran agreed, just before the scheduled talks today Friday in Oman, to limit the discussions to the Iranian nuclear program only.
According to the Israeli newspaper "Haaretz", the source said: "Washington agreed to the Iranian conditions, after the intervention of a number of countries in the region", indicating that Tehran warned of its readiness to enter a regional conflict, if the negotiation framework it proposes was rejected.
The source added that "the United States has not issued any official statement yet, confirming its retreat from its previous demand to expand the scope of the talks to include other issues, such as the Iranian ballistic missile program and the activities of Tehran's proxies in the region".
He also noted that, despite the current hardline rhetoric from Tehran, the leaders in Iran may eventually be prepared to give up their nuclear program, pointing out that the outcomes of the talks are still unclear, as well as whether the United States will stick to its maximum demands regarding the nuclear file.
