In the context of the Epstein case French foreign ministry summons head of the Arab World Institute

Khaberni - The French foreign ministry summoned the president of the Arab World Institute in Paris and the former French Minister of Culture, Jacques Lang, to question him about his relationship with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as a source close to the presidency told Agence France-Presse on Thursday.

The source stated that the offices of the president and the prime minister asked the foreign minister to summon him for clarifications.

A source at the foreign ministry confirmed to Agence France-Presse the summons of Lang, without giving further details.

Lang, who is 86 years old, did not immediately respond to Agence France-Presse's request for comment.

His daughter Caroline had resigned from the presidency of the film producers' union on Monday, following revelations of the family's connection with Epstein.

Lang dismissed on Wednesday any resignation from his position as the head of the Arab World Institute. When asked by the channel "BFM TV" if he considered leaving his position similar to his daughter Caroline, he answered "No, not for a moment."

However, a source close to President Emmanuel Macron said that his office believes Lang should "consider the institution" he has been leading since 2013.

No charges have been directed at the Lang family, and their mention among millions of documents related to Epstein published by the US Department of Justice does not necessarily imply any wrongdoing.
