Khaberni - The administration of American President Donald Trump is set to launch the website "Trump RX" on Thursday, which will help patients purchase prescription medications directly from manufacturers at reduced prices, at a time when healthcare and rising living costs are a growing concern for Americans.
The government website is not expected to serve as a platform for directly purchasing medications, but it will act as a platform for guiding Americans to the manufacturers' websites that allow direct consumer purchases, where they can make their purchases.
A spokesperson for the White House, Carolyn Levitt, described in a post on the "X" platform that it is "a state-of-the-art website that enables American consumers to purchase prescription medications at low prices."
She said that President Donald Trump will announce this in collaboration with the CEO of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Joe Gebbia, the Director of the National Design Studio for the Trump administration.
President Trump first referred to the "Trump RX" site in September (Elul), during his announcement of the first deal among more than 15 deals he made with pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices to match the lowest price offered in other advanced countries.
Trump said in December (Kislev) that the site would offer "huge discounts for all consumers" - although it is unclear whether the prices available on pharmaceutical companies' websites would consistently be lower than what many consumers could obtain through their insurance coverage.
The launch of the website, scheduled for today Thursday after being delayed several times, has been postponed for reasons not publicly disclosed by the administration.
