Khaberni - The Moroccan Ministry of the Interior announced on Thursday the evacuation of more than 143,000 citizens due to the floods hitting the country.
The Moroccan Ministry of the Interior stated that "the evacuation of the population due to flood risks, as of Thursday, resulted in the relocation and evacuation of a total of 143,164 people, distributed across several provinces, as part of preventive interventions aiming to protect lives and ensure the safety of citizens".
It indicated that the evacuation operations took place from the provinces of Larache, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, and Sidi Slimane, in the context of the continued mobilization of public authorities to address the repercussions of climate fluctuations.
It explained that the evacuation operations due to flood risks are still ongoing, taking into account the levels of danger and the scale of potential damage, with various logistical means deployed to ensure the best conditions for transporting affected individuals.
