Poland begins investigation into Epstein files

Khaberni - The Polish Minister of Justice announced today, Thursday, the formation of a team composed of agents from the secret services, prosecutors, and police officers, tasked with investigating potential links between Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of sexual assaults, and Poland.

The team was formed after the U.S. Department of Justice released millions of new documents on Friday that show connections between the financial expert who died in prison in 2019, while awaiting trial, and numerous world leaders.

The Minister of Justice, Wardemar Zorek, was appointed as the head of the team.

Zorek told the press, "As you know through the media, there were Poles in Epstein's circle," explaining that the Polish authorities know the identities of these two individuals, a Polish woman and a Polish man, without revealing further details.

He added that his team would determine whether Epstein's activities and his acquaintances in Poland justify further investigations, especially if it turns out that there are Polish victims.

He noted that at present, "no victim of these practices themselves has appeared, but we know that these operations to bring in girls could have also targeted minors."

The minister said that the work of his team could lead to the formation of an official committee that might "request some classified documents in the United States" as part of any investigation.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday that his country would investigate potential connections between Epstein and the Russian intelligence services.

Russia ridiculed this announcement and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters during his daily press conference on Thursday, "I would have liked to make many jokes on the subject, but let us not waste our press conference time on this matter," describing the speculation as "not serious."

The majority of the team members were chosen and are set to hold their first meeting next week.
