Khaberni - OpenAI announced on Thursday the launch of a new enterprise platform named Frontier, a move aimed at expanding its presence among business sector customers and accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies within major companies.
Frontier represents a unified intelligence layer that connects scattered systems and data within a single organization, facilitating companies to manage, deploy, build, and create AI agents capable of independently performing tasks on behalf of users, according to a report published by "CNBC" and viewed by "Al Arabiya Business".
During a press briefing, OpenAI's CEO for applications, Fidji Simo, said, "Frontier reflects our realization that we will not build everything ourselves. We will work side by side with a broad ecosystem of partners because companies will need multiple and integrated solutions."
Strong push towards business sector
This step is part of OpenAI's accelerated efforts to expand in the enterprise market, where the company revealed last November that more than a million business clients around the world use their technologies.
Last month, Sara Fryer, OpenAI's CFO, explained that corporate clients currently represent about 40% of the company's business, with expectations for this percentage to rise to nearly 50% by the end of the year.
OpenAI confirmed that the Frontier platform would complement its existing solutions, such as ChatGPT Enterprise, and not replace them.
AI colleagues at work
Denise Dresser, OpenAI's Chief Revenue Officer, said that many companies still lack a straightforward way to activate AI agents as "colleagues" within the work environment without needing to completely restructure their systems. "That's exactly why we built Frontier," she added.
The new platform supports AI agents developed by "OpenAI", or built by the companies themselves, in addition to agents from third parties such as "Google", "Microsoft", and "Anthropic".
Simo indicated that it is impossible for OpenAI to develop all the agents companies might need on its own.
Advanced capabilities and unified context
Frontier grants AI agents access to a shared business context within the organization, by linking internal applications, ticketing systems, and data warehouses that were previously operating independently.
Thanks to this integration, agents can perform complex tasks, use computing tools, execute programming codes, and handle files, within an open execution environment.
The platform also includes built-in tools for assessing and improving agent performance over time.
Bart Zoff, OpenAI's General Manager for Corporate Business, said, "What we are actually doing is transforming agents into real colleagues at work, supported by artificial intelligence."
Limited launch and upcoming expansion
OpenAI explained that it would launch Frontier in its initial phase for a limited number of customers, including companies like "Uber", "State Farm", "Intuit", and "Thermo Fisher", with plans to expand its availability in the coming months.
So far, the company has not yet disclosed the pricing details of the platform.
