Khaberni - Last year, the Standards and Measurements Institution took 718 legal actions against violators, including issuing warnings, transferring cases to the Public Prosecutor, closing facilities, destruction of materials, prevention of sales, and withdrawal of products from the market for non-conformance with approved technical rules and standard specifications.
The institution explained in a statement released on Thursday that it dealt with more than 203,000 customs declarations and conducted about 124,000 tests in its laboratories, in addition to handling 102,868 kilograms of gold and silver jewelry and alloys.
It highlighted the execution of inspection and regulatory tours involving 9,670 economic establishments across various provinces and departments of the kingdom, aiming to verify the safety and compliance of products under its supervision, affirming its continued commitment to enhancing product quality and ensuring economic establishments adhere to technical and standard specifications.
The institution also issued 227 Jordanian technical rules and standard specifications, while 154 products and establishments received the Jordanian Quality Mark, and 93 products received the «Halal» mark, as part of its efforts to enhance the quality of Jordanian products and protect consumers.
The institution affirmed that these achievements reflect the continuation of its efforts to promote a fair and safe economic environment and protect consumer health and safety through a combination of awareness, field monitoring, and strict law enforcement.
It clarified its ongoing pursuit to develop its technical and regulatory system, and strengthen partnerships with regulatory bodies and the private sector, ensuring the competitiveness of the Jordanian product locally and internationally, according to the highest standards of quality and safety.
