Legal Committee of the Senate Approves 4 Bills

Khaberni - The Legal Committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Ahmad Tbisat, on Thursday, approved 4 bills as received from the House of Representatives.

The bills include: A bill to ratify the agreement on mutual legal and judicial assistance in criminal matters between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, a bill to ratify the agreement on the transfer of sentenced persons serving liberty-depriving penalties between the two governments, a bill to ratify the agreement on extradition of persons between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Spain, in addition to a bill to ratify the extradition agreement between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Justice, Basem Talhouni, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice, Walid Kanakrieh, and the Director of International Cooperation Directorate, Alia Al-Assaf.

The justification for the bill on the agreement of mutual legal and judicial assistance in criminal matters with Morocco states that it arises from the fraternal relations between the two governments, the strengthening of cooperation bonds between them, and recognizing the importance of organizing mutual legal and judicial assistance in criminal matters according to the laws of both parties.

The justification for the bill on the agreement of the transfer of sentenced persons serving liberty-depriving penalties between the Jordanian and Moroccan governments indicates that it aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries, acknowledge the importance of facilitating the reintegration of persons serving liberty-depriving penalties into society, and enabling them to serve their sentences within their social environment.

The justification for the bill on the agreement of extradition of persons between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Spain states that the agreement comes to enhance cooperation between the two countries in combating crime, prevent the escape of criminals from justice, and facilitate the extradition process in accordance with constitutional principles.

As for the justification for the bill on the agreement of extradition of persons between the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in combating crime, prevent the escape of criminals from justice, and facilitate the extradition of persons in accordance with constitutional principles.
