Khaberni - FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that the Moroccan team has become one of the major powers in world football, emphasizing that "Morocco is capable of winning the next World Cup".
FIFA President's statement came in a video he posted on his official Instagram account, where he responded to a question about the Moroccan team's chances of winning the 2026 World Cup, saying: "Yes, Morocco is capable of winning the next World Cup, Morocco was crowned in the World Cup for under 20 years, and reached the semi-finals of the last World Cup".
Infantino added: "It was a very special event for Morocco and its fans, and it was a touching moment", highlighting that the development of Moroccan football is no longer limited to just technical aspects, as he explained: "Morocco has not only developed the technical skills of players on the field, but also acquired the belief that it is one of the major powers in world football".
The President of FIFA continued his statements by saying: "The Moroccan Football Federation is doing great work", pointing out that this work is done "under the leadership, of course, of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who is one of the football enthusiasts".
Infantino continued: "Everyone in Morocco loves football, and Morocco has real chances", before concluding by affirming: "I put Morocco among the teams nominated to win the World Cup, alongside the usual names from other countries around the world".
Infantino wrote in his post accompanying the video that "Morocco has proven that it deserves its place among the major football nations”, adding that the Moroccan team "continued to develop to the extent that it became capable of competing with the best teams", and that it "has all the reasons to be confident before entering the biggest edition of the FIFA World Cup in 2026".
