Khaberni - French media confirmed an increase in tension within the Rennes club after a harsh exit from the French Cup with a clean 3-0 defeat, in a match where the team's performance was described as extremely poor both technically and mentally, amidst a charged atmosphere that revealed a crisis deeper than just the result.
Actu Foot account on Twitter explained that during the matchup with Olympique Marseille, the behind-the-scenes events between the halves revealed a scene reflecting the extent of strife, after harsh criticisms were directed at Jordanian winger Moussa Al-Taamari, with some players considering his role limited only to physical confrontations and charges, in a harsh message that touches on his technical value within the group. This incident reflects a communication breakdown internally and raises questions about the level of trust among the team members.
It was added: "Al-Taamari was deeply affected by what was said to him, and could not believe that he was addressed in such a manner from within his own team, especially considering that he has been one of Rennes' best players in the past month in terms of performance and impact."
It was noted that according to what was circulated backstage, coach Habib Bay himself told Al-Taamari literally during halftime: "You are not a good player; all you do is run," a phrase that was described within the club as demeaning, and contributed to increasing the tension inside the dressing room instead of containing the team's collective collapse.
The tense atmosphere did not stop there, as coach Habib Bay got into a sharp verbal altercation with goalkeeper Bree Samba following the second goal, in a scene reflecting the nervousness and loss of control that dominated the substitutions bench during the match.
