Khaberni - The Israeli army forces penetrated again on Wednesday evening into Quneitra Governorate in southwest Syria and arrested a citizen, in the latest assault on the country's sovereignty, according to the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
SANA explained that the Israeli forces penetrated in the villages of Saida al-Golan, Abu Madrah Farm, and Ruwayhinah in the southern Quneitra countryside, via Abu Ghaythar Hill, where they erected a temporary checkpoint on the road and stopped passersby before withdrawing later.
The Syrian news agency added that another force conducted searches in homes in the town of Ruwayhinah, arresting a citizen and taking him to an unknown destination.
Israeli Escalation
These developments come days after a similar bombardment targeted the villages of Abdeen and Maariyah in the western countryside of Daraa, resulting in shells falling in open areas without casualties, according to the Syrian news agency.
Israel continues - almost daily - to carry out ground operations and air strikes in Syrian territories, particularly in the countrysides of Quneitra and Daraa, including setting up checkpoints to inspect passersby and arresting citizens, in addition to destroying crops, despite the announcement of the formation of a Syrian/Israeli contact mechanism – on January 6, last January – under American supervision, aimed at exchanging information and reducing military escalation and enhancing diplomatic and commercial engagement.
Observers note that the continuous Israeli violations - since the occupation of most of the Syrian Golan Heights in 1967, and exploiting the events of December 8, 2024, after the announcement of the collapse of the disengagement agreement - hinder the efforts of the Syrian government to achieve stability and attract investments, and increase the suffering of the local population.
