Khaberni - Two American officials told the website "Axios" that the United States informed Iran on Wednesday that it would not agree to Tehran's demands to change the location and format of the talks scheduled for Friday.
The site explained that this disagreement may hinder the diplomatic path and prompt President Donald Trump to prefer the military option.
According to "Axios," the United States and Iran had agreed to hold talks on Friday in Istanbul, with other countries from the Middle East participating as observers.
However, the Iranians said on Tuesday that they want to move the talks to Oman and hold them bilaterally to ensure they focus solely on the nuclear file, without other issues such as missiles, which are a priority for the United States and countries in the region.
The report added that the American officials discussed the request to change the location, but decided on Wednesday to reject it.
Axios quoted a senior American official as saying: "We informed them that it's either this way or nothing, and they said: okay, then nothing."
The official indicated that if Iran is ready to return to the original format, the United States is ready to meet this week or next, adding: "We want to reach a real agreement quickly, otherwise people will look for other options," referring to Trump's repeated threats of military action.
In this context, American officials stated that White House envoy Steve Witkoff, along with Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner, are expected to travel to Qatar on Thursday to hold talks about Iran with the Prime Minister.
They added that the current plan involves their return from Doha to Miami instead of traveling to meet the Iranians.
