After Checking 20 of the Complaints A Technical Committee Confirms the Accuracy of Electricity Bills

Khaberni - The committee formed to follow up on complaints about the rise in electricity bills, after conducting technical and field inspections that included about 20% of the complaints across various provinces of Jordan, confirmed the accuracy of the bills, the integrity of the meters, and the approved technical procedures, noting the absence of any noteworthy technical defects.

The committee explained that the increase seen in some bills is primarily due to a change in consumption patterns and moving to higher tiers, due to prevailing weather conditions and a drop in temperature, accompanied by an increase in usage hours, stating that this pattern is repetitive and documented under such climatic conditions.

The formation of the committee was recommended by the Parliamentary Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources, chaired by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, with membership including representatives from the Jordanian Engineers Association and the Royal Scientific Society, along with an observer member from the Parliamentary Energy Committee.

The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission affirmed its ongoing role in monitoring and technical supervision with full transparency and responsibility, following up on all complaints received through official channels, and taking the necessary corrective and regulatory actions as per the legal frameworks in place, ensuring the protection of consumers’ rights and maintaining the integrity of the electricity system in the Kingdom.
