Khaberni - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced the completion of the rainwater drainage system improvement project and comprehensive maintenance of the Sheikh Saud Al-Qadi Bridge "Houssha Tunnel" in Mafraq Governorate, which had a total cost of half a million dinars, and was completed within the specified contractual period.
According to a statement from the ministry today, Wednesday, the project included the implementation of main drainage lines parallel to the existing ones, construction of new drainage and inspection manholes, execution of excavation, backfill, and restoration works according to approved technical specifications. The work also included precise maintenance of the water facilities inside the tunnel and in the adjacent areas to ensure a smooth and continuous flow of rainwater without obstructions.
This project is a response to the recurring problems faced by the "Houssha Tunnel" during the winter seasons, which adversely affected traffic flow and the safety of citizens, contributing today to enhancing the infrastructure and raising traffic safety standards in this vital area, especially since the tunnel represents a strategic facility on the Irbid-Mafraq route.
It should be noted that this project provides a final and radical solution to the water accumulation problem witnessed by the tunnel in previous years, and it is part of a series of developmental projects carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to enhance the efficiency of roads and infrastructure in various governorates of the kingdom.
