Resumption of Peace Talks Between Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi

Khaberni -   Negotiators from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States are set to meet in Abu Dhabi today, Wednesday, to conduct the second round of discussions aimed at exploring the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine, despite a new wave of Russian air raids on its neighbor.

The first round of the trilateral talks was held in mid-January, and a follow-up meeting scheduled for last Sunday was postponed.

The Ukrainian delegation in the United Arab Emirates is expected to be led again by Rustam Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

The Kremlin stated that there will be no changes in the Russian delegation, which includes the head of military intelligence, Igor Kostyukov, and several other senior officers, and the talks are expected to continue till Thursday.

Before the meeting, Russia resumed its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, with authorities reporting overnight airstrikes across several regions on Tuesday, leaving millions of people without electricity or heating in extremely cold temperatures, disrupting ongoing repairs to the network.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of violating the limited ceasefire mediated by the United States, calling for a response from Washington. He said that Kyiv relies on the will of U.S. President Donald Trump as it hopes to secure security guarantees from the United States and cannot cancel the talks.
