Khaberni - A source close to the Gaddafi family confirmed to "Al Arabiya/Al Hadath", today, Tuesday, the killing of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi by 4 individuals, south of the city of Zintan, in the west of the country.
The source added that the perpetrators fled quickly after injuring Saif al-Islam in his home garden.
In turn, the 444 Brigade, a military faction affiliated with the national unity government, denied its involvement in the assassination of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, and mentioned in a statement that it had no connection with the clashes that occurred in the city of Zintan.
Who is Saif al-Islam?
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was born on June 25, 1972, in Tripoli, and is the eldest son of Gaddafi's second wife and the second of the Libyan leader's nine children.
The deceased earned a degree in architectural engineering from Al Fateh University in Tripoli in 1995, and his father then tasked him with planning a huge real estate complex with hotels, a mosque, and residences.

Five years later, Saif al-Islam continued his studies, choosing to study business administration in Vienna, Austria, where he received a certification from the "International Business School", according to the BBC network.
Until he obtained a PhD from the London School of Economics and Social Sciences, affiliated with the University of London, in 2008.
He became an influential leader within the regime, but was not granted an official governmental position; instead, he led foreign negotiations and domestic issues before the fall of the regime, playing prominent roles in Libyan public affairs until 2011.
2011 and beyond
On June 27, 2010, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, and Abdullah Senussi, accusing them of committing crimes against humanity during the suppression of protests in Libya.
Following a violent armed conflict, the forces of the Transitional Council entered Tripoli in August 2011, signaling the end of Gaddafi's rule.
In October 2011, Libyan Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was killed minutes after being captured.
Subsequently, extensive searches were conducted for Saif al-Islam, who was rumored to have fled to Niger.
Until the Libyan Transitional Council announced on November 19 of the same year, the arrest of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, near the town of Ubari, in the southwest of the country.
Later, a court in Tripoli sentenced him in absentia to death by firing squad in 2015, following a trial he underwent with about thirty symbols of the Gaddafi regime after being convicted of war crimes, including killing protesters during the uprising against his father's rule, then the sentence was annulled.
He was released in June 2017 after being detained in the city of Zintan, western Libya, under an amnesty law.
In 2021, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi officially submitted his papers to run for the presidential elections in Libya, at that time the supporters of the former regime hoped for his return to power, but the elections were not completed at all due to legal disputes over the eligibility of candidates and the terms of candidacy, and political tensions between competing camps, so Gaddafi remained in Zintan in the west of the country until he was assassinated there today.
It is worth mentioning that the deceased was known for his love of wildlife, owning two tigers as pets, and he enjoyed falconry hunting in the desert, as well as being a passionate amateur painter.
