Khaberni - Nancy Guthrie, mother of the famous American TV broadcaster Savannah Guthrie, was abducted from her home in Arizona, in an incident that caused widespread shock within the United States.
According to the "Daily Mail" newspaper, quoting the police, Nancy, "84 years old", disappeared from her home in Tucson. Investigations confirm that she was forced to leave her home during the early morning hours, as her phone, wallet, car, and medications were found inside the house.
Chris Nanos, the head of the Pima County Sheriff's Department, confirmed that the evidence clearly indicates that the incident is a kidnapping. He explained that Nancy does not suffer from any mental issues or symptoms of dementia, but she does have health conditions that require daily medication to survive. He warned that her absence without treatment for more than 24 hours poses a real danger to her life.
According to the newspaper, the details of her kidnapping led authorities to involve homicide investigators, as well as notifying the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as the police noted that the lights were on in some rooms and the front door was unlocked, without any clear signs of a break-in, which raised the investigators' curiosity.
Investigations suggest the possibility that one or more persons broke into the house during night hours and forcibly took Nancy from her room, as she was reported missing the morning of the day before yesterday, Sunday, after she did not show up to go to church.
The incident caused Savannah Guthrie to withdraw from her scheduled media appearance this week, while a number of her colleagues expressed their solidarity with her on live television, and authorities launched a wide-ranging search operation that included using helicopters and drones equipped with thermal cameras, alongside rescue teams and police dogs, and collecting surveillance camera footage from the neighborhood.
Additional security agencies have joined the investigation, given the proximity of the area to the Mexican border, although the police confirmed there are no indications of the incident being linked to any organized criminal activity or gangs.
