Khaberni - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conducted talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, addressing the elevation of bilateral ties to a higher level and the discussion of regional files, during an official visit by the Turkish president to Riyadh on Tuesday.
The Anadolu Agency mentioned that Erdogan reconfirmed during his meeting with Bin Salman Turkey's determination to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level by taking steps in various fields.
The agency clarified that the president discussed with the Saudi Crown Prince bilateral relations, energy issues, defense industries and regional and global issues.
The agency quoted a statement from the Turkish presidency announcing the signing of 4 agreements between Turkey and Saudi Arabia during the leaders' meeting, noting that Erdogan emphasized to his host Turkey's continued support for the stability of Syria and efforts to rebuild it in cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
The Turkish president also confirmed the continuation of support for efforts to reconstruct Gaza, and the need to increase efforts to end the humanitarian crisis in the sector.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Press Agency reported that Riyadh and Ankara signed an agreement on projects for generating electricity from renewable energy.
"30 Billion Dollars"
The Turkish presidency stated in a release that the sides discussed bilateral relations, energy cooperation, defense industries, investments, trade, technology, and regional and global issues during the meeting.
The Turkish Trade Minister, Omar Bulat, a member of Erdogan's delegation to Saudi Arabia, stated that the delegation is determined to increase the trade volume between the two countries from 8.6 billion dollars in 2025 to 10 billion dollars in the near term, and 30 billion dollars in the long term.
The Turkish president arrived in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday afternoon, on an official visit to the kingdom to discuss ways to deepen bilateral relations, in addition to regional and global developments.
President Erdogan was accompanied by a delegation including several ministers and top Turkish businessmen, who are expected to participate in both the Turkish-Saudi Business Forum in Riyadh, and the Turkish-Egyptian Business Forum in Cairo.
Visit to Egypt
In this context, Erdogan will continue his regional tour, visiting Egypt on Wednesday, to chair with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the second meeting of the Turkish-Egyptian Strategic Cooperation Council. Discussions will particularly focus on the issue of Palestine.
Mustafa Denizer, head of the Turkish-Egyptian Business Council in the Foreign Economic Relations Board (governmental), mentioned that Erdogan will discuss various issues in Egypt, with expectations of crowning them with new cooperation projects and partnerships particularly in the energy and defense sectors.
Denizer, in his talk to Anadolu, pointed out that the current trade volume between Turkey and Egypt stands at around 10 billion dollars, indicating that a goal to increase this figure to 15 billion dollars was set in previous official meetings.
He noted that the course of achieving this goal is progressing positively to date, highlighting the strong interest in Turkish products and their quality in Egypt.
Denizer explained that there are expectations of Turkish investments in Egypt in the textile, tourism, and ready-made garments sectors.
Additionally, he highlighted that the visit is expected to include discussions on new investments in retail, glass, porcelain, and sock manufacturing, as well as emerging investments in the tourism sector.
