Khaberni - A high school student stabbed a 60-year-old teacher in southern France on Tuesday afternoon, causing her serious injuries, according to the public prosecutor.
The Public Prosecutor in Toulon, Raphael Ballan, stated that the teenager stabbed an art teacher at least three times before being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
On his part, French Education Minister Edouard Geffray said he was on his way to La Guichard Secondary School where the stabbing took place in the town of Sanary-sur-Mer. He wrote on the "X" platform: "I stand in solidarity with the victim and her family and the entire educational community with whom I share the deep shock they are feeling."
Previous incidents
It should be noted that France has witnessed a series of incidents in which students attacked teachers or their peers, according to Agence France-Presse.
Last year, a fourteen-year-old student was accused of killing a teaching assistant suspected of stabbing her to death in June. The 31-year-old woman was attacked during a bag inspection in the town of Noujan (East).
In a separate case, a student in April killed a girl and injured several of his classmates with stab wounds in the city of Nantes (West).
