Israeli General and Former Air Force Commander Assassinating Khamenei Extremely Difficult

Israel Today newspaper reported this evening (Tuesday) from Major General (Res.) Amir Eshel, former Air Force commander and former director general of the Ministry of Defense, on the possibility of the United States launching an attack on Iran.

Eshel said, "It will be extremely difficult to reach Khamenei. He is hidden deep underground. No doubt the Americans are capable of inflicting serious damage on the Iranian infrastructure. What concerns me is the frequent talk about negotiation contacts. I am not against negotiations - Iran is suffering from an economic and social crisis, but any power that wants to achieve something must start with military action first, then turn to negotiations."

He also claimed that there is tremendous pressure on Trump to enter negotiations instead of war: "Due to internal pressures in the United States, a situation may arise where a bad agreement is reached that leaves remnants of a nuclear program. This is a possibility. There is significant pressure on Trump to avoid getting involved in more wars, and we may be heading towards that."
