Khaberni - After the U.S. Department of Justice published millions of documents and photos related to Jeffrey Epstein, an American judge is considering on Wednesday a petition submitted by a number of the convicted man’s sexual crime victims, in which they request the removal of their names from the published files to protect their privacy, as reported by the "New York Times".
A letter from the lawyers representing the victims mentioned that the lives of about one hundred victims were "deeply affected" by these publications.
It was also added that the Attorney General Pam Bondi indicated in a letter to the court on Monday that the Department of Justice worked throughout the weekend on "removing thousands of documents and media materials that might have included, unintentionally, information revealing the identities of the victims".
This came after the U.S. Department of Justice began on Friday publishing a new batch of documents related to Epstein, confirming that it responded to the Trump administration's demands for full transparency in this sensitive case.
The lawyers also requested the appointment of an independent monitor to oversee the document publication process, according to the "New York Times".
Naked Young Women
The newspaper reported on Sunday that the Department of Justice published pictures of naked young women, possibly teenagers, within the files.
Of the three million pages published, about 40 images were kept that contain explicit sexual content or reveal the identities of the victims.
Epstein is accused of sexually exploiting more than a thousand young women including minors, and many celebrities' names who were associated with him or visited what became known as "Epstein Island," an island located in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Saint Thomas, have been circulated.
Epstein was found hanged in his cell in New York in 2019 before his trial for sexual assault charges. His death sparked numerous conspiracy theories suggesting he was killed to protect prominent figures.
