Khaberni - The story of a 7-year-old Chinese girl captured wide attention on social media, after a video circulated documenting her lone care for her father suffering from heart disease at a hospital in Northeast China.
According to local media, the story dates back to the girl "San Mengru" who took on the care of her father, in his forties, while he was receiving treatment at a hospital in Heilongjiang province, following his heart condition that required hospitalization.
The story began circulating since January 18, when a man named "Bi" posted a video he filmed inside the hospital, where he was caring for his sick father in the bed next to the girl's father.
The video showed "San" completely relying on herself to care for her father, as she managed medical appointments, sought doctors and nurses when needed, and collected test results, in addition to buying daily meals.
During her conversation with "Bi", the girl explained that her parents are separated, her grandmother is over seventy years old and cannot come to the hospital daily, while her other relatives work as migrant laborers in distant cities.
The recorded clip gained more than 12 million views on social media platforms, prompting a large number of users to donate and send daily necessities to the girl, while the administration of "Qi Chi Har" hospital decided to reduce the treatment costs for her father, considering the family's difficult financial situation.
Latter on, the girl's father was discharged from the hospital, where he confirmed that he was now able to depend on himself, albeit occasionally needing someone to run some errands on his behalf, and said in media statements: "I allowed my daughter to stay with me at the hospital because she was on winter break, and there was no one to take care of her at home."
Despite the improvement in her father's condition, the girl's "San" story continued to stir wide engagement online, with one follower writing "Children from poor families understand life early on, while children of her age enjoy indulgence, she has become the mainstay of her family, and it is hard not to sympathize with this mature girl."
