Khaberni - Dr. Andrei Bobrovsky, a nutrition expert, indicates that overeating tomatoes can lead to unexpected consequences for some people.
According to him, consuming too many tomatoes can cause lycopenoderma, which is a harmless orange skin discoloration that will disappear on its own once the amount is reduced.
Bobrovsky also notes that some people should limit their tomato intake or completely exclude it from their diet. This includes individuals with gastritis, stomach ulcers, gallstones, kidney disease, gout, and allergies because the acids in tomatoes can irritate the stomach lining and stimulate bile secretion. People who take anticoagulants, blood thinners, and blood pressure medication should be very cautious.
The doctor recommends consuming between 200 and 500 grams of fresh tomatoes per day - approximately equivalent to one to three medium-sized tomatoes - which is considered safe for most healthy individuals, providing health benefits without any risks or side effects.
Dr. Natalia Balan points out that tomatoes contain many beneficial and essential substances for all ages, having a very high concentration of lycopene - a powerful antioxidant that helps lower cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of heart disease, in addition to protecting body cells from aging.
