Khaberni - The Palestinian Corruption Crimes Court issued its verdict in the criminal case related to the file of the General Authority for Crossings and Borders, and sentenced the accused (N.M) (referring to the former Director-General of the Crossings and Borders Authority, Nazmi Muhanna) to fifteen (15) years in prison, and the accused (R.M) to seven (7) years in prison, for the charges attributed to them.
The court also ordered Nazmi Muhanna to repay the amounts listed in the indictment amounting to 6,137,225 shekels (1.98 million dollars), 4,499,030 US dollars, 2,923,717 Jordanian dinars, and 6,974 euros, and imposed a fine equivalent to the amounts to be repaid on the sentenced parties, the court also decided to confiscate the movable and immovable funds obtained from the crime, reserved and seized during the case, and confiscate the properties belonging to the sentenced parties located within Palestine and in both the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, and deprive them of the right to dispose of them, following the proper legal procedures.
The public prosecution accused Nazmi Muhanna of committing the crime of corruption, through acts that included illicit gain, influence peddling, abuse of power, job exploitation, and securing illicit personal benefits according to the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Law and the Penal Code, in addition to the crime of money laundering for the accused (N.M) and the accused (R.M) according to the legal description provided in the decision and indictment issued by the public prosecution.
