Jordan Creation of 48000 job opportunities during the first half of 2025

Khaberni - Data from the Department of Statistics recorded 48,403 net new job opportunities in the Jordanian labor market during the first half of 2025, an indicator reflecting the continuous improvement of economic activity, with projections of reaching nearly 100,000 jobs by the end of the year, fueled by the expansion of opportunities in productive sectors and improved local demand for labor.

The net number of newly created jobs is calculated by subtracting the total number of jobs that were left from the total number of jobs that individuals obtained during the same temporal assignment period, totaling six months.

According to the General Department of Statistics' semi-annual report on net new job opportunities in the Kingdom for the first half of 2025, the private sector accounted for 88% of net new jobs, with the majority of job opportunities focused in the trading sector and its affiliates at 26% of net opportunities, followed by public administration and defense sector at 14.5%, and the manufacturing industry sector at 12%. In terms of professions; sales and services jobs led the net new jobs with 21,134 opportunities from the net job opportunities, followed by professional jobs including teachers, doctors, engineers, and lawyers with 8,240 jobs.

According to data from the General Department of Statistics, Jordanians occupy 94% of these opportunities, registering a growth of 11% compared to the first half of 2024, reflecting an improvement in the national economy's ability to generate sustainable employment opportunities and absorb local labor. Conversely, the net newly created jobs for non-Jordanians decreased by 56% compared to the first half of 2024, reflecting an increase in reliance on national labor within the job market.

The net new job opportunities for males accounted for 41,233 jobs, making up 85.2% of the total net job opportunities, compared to 7,170 opportunities for females, which constitutes 14.8%. Regarding newly created job opportunities according to educational qualification (bachelor’s degree and above), females accounted for about a third of net jobs for university degree holders at 33.5%, indicating a relative expansion in quality employment opportunities.

As for the results of newly created jobs according to age group, the majority of net job opportunities were concentrated in the (20-29) age group with 41,752 job opportunities, accounting for 86.2% of the net, and the (30-39) age group constituted 11% of the job opportunities.

This positive performance of the labor market is consistent with the improvement of economic growth indicators during the recent period, where the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded gradual growth from 2024 to reach 2.8% during the last quarter of 2025, reflecting the expansion of economic activity and increased ability of the national economy to generate job opportunities, particularly in the service and production sectors.

It is worth noting that the Department of Statistics conducts a survey of newly created job opportunities twice a year on a sample size of about 50,000 families per half-year, and a total of 100,000 families annually, distributed across all provinces of the Kingdom, where individuals are asked whether they obtained a job
