Egypt Death by Hanging for Maamoura Butcher Perpetrator of the Most Horrific Murders in Alexandria

Khaberni -   The Alexandria Court of Appeals in Egypt, on Sunday, closed the case of lawyer Nasr El-Din El-Sayed, known in the media as the "Maamoura Butcher", by upholding the death sentence by hanging, following the opinion of the Mufti of the Republic, thus completing the episodes of one of the most horrific serial murder cases in the city’s history.

The crime dates back to February 2025, when the screams from a fight in an apartment in Maamoura, Alexandria, aroused the neighbors' suspicion. Upon breaking into a sealed room with its tiles removed, they discovered the bodies of the killer’s wife and his former client, who had been stabbed and robbed of her savings.

Continuing Crimes
Further investigations revealed another apartment in Asafra area, where they found the body of engineer Mohamed Ibrahim, missing for 3 years, inside plastic bags, beneath the tile floor. The killer confessed to moving it from another location to bury it under the tiles.

The prosecution described the accused during the trial as a "human wolf dressed in lawyer's clothes", who used his profession to undermine trust and lure his victims, asserting that the crimes were meticulously planned with motives of robbery or fear of being exposed, rather than poverty or violence.

Recusal
Throughout the trial, the court heard from 25 witnesses, and a medical report from Abbasiya Hospital for Mental Health confirmed his mental competency and full awareness of his actions, prompting the original defense team to recuse themselves, with the defendant taking over his own defense.

The accused tried during the appeal to deny the murder charges with a robbery motive, claiming he owned fees amounting to 7 billion Egyptian pounds, and that the victims had initiated the attack on him. However, the court dismissed these claims based on the investigations and autopsy reports which proved the premeditation.
