Khaberni - A winter storm sweeping through the southern United States accompanied by snowfall, led to the cancellation of more than 2100 flights, according to the German news agency "DPA".
The eastern regions of the United States are experiencing a severe cold wave that extends to southern Florida, potentially reaching record levels and posing a danger to citrus crops.
Bob Oraveck, the chief meteorologist at the U.S. Weather Prediction Center, said that winter storm warnings cover parts of southern Virginia, eastern Tennessee, and North and South Carolina.
He added that the storm also covers parts of northeastern Georgia with the storm intensifying along the southern Atlantic coast, threatening to drop between 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 centimeters) of snow across a wide area.
According to Bloomberg News Agency, the region will also be hit by strong wind storms reaching speeds of up to 45 miles (72 kilometers) per hour in some areas.
