Jordan The Ministry of Awqaf Launches a Cleanliness Strategy Plan

Khaberni  - The Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places has launched the executive plan for the ministry's cleanliness strategy and the reduction of random waste disposal for the years 2026–2027.

The plan demonstrates the ministry's reliance on its tools and media and religious platforms to enhance environmental awareness from an Islamic perspective.

The plan indicates that enhancing environmental awareness is based on the teachings of Islamic law that encourage preserving the environment as part of faith, citing the noble verse "And do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption," and prophetic sayings that affirm "Cleanliness is part of faith" and "Removing harm from the road is charity."

The plan aims to raise the level of environmental awareness and enhance national and community responsibility and connect environmental behavior to belonging, by focusing on the Islamic perspective in approximately 5200 to 5600 mosques, and enhancing volunteerism and community responsibility through religious platforms, linking religious behavior, and national and religious belonging, targeting between 50,000 to 75,000 volunteers, in addition to developing environmental services in 3000 mosques by providing waste sorting baskets and environmentally friendly tools.

The plan also shows the ministry's efforts to build media activities to reach wide segments of society through digital and traditional platforms, by producing between 50 and 75 "videos," alongside raising awareness in the education and youth sectors and launching volunteer campaigns in 1000 to 1500 schools.

The plan for the years 2026–2027 indicates that the total targets include conducting 10,800 sermons, 450,000 preaching lessons, achieving 1.25 million views, in addition to involving about 65,000 volunteers across the kingdom.

The execution of the plan depends on a methodology that includes setting goals, planning and designing, implementation, using digital and traditional platforms, measuring the quantitative and qualitative impact of the plan, and evaluating and documenting through semi-annual reports, in coordination with the executing and partnering entities.

It added that coordination will be made with the Ministry of Environment in 3000 mosques, and with the Ministry of Education in 2000 schools, in addition to launching 50 campaigns in coordination with the Amman Municipality.
