Khaberni - A surveillance camera captured shocking moments of an armed robbery in which two men with a huge hammer launched a sudden attack on a jewelry store in the Richmond area west of London, in the middle of an upscale and busy street during the day.
The video circulating on platform "X" showed two masked men dressed in black violently attacking the glass front of "Gregory & Co" jewelry store. When they couldn't break the glass with one strike, one of them proceeded to pull the piece with his hands until they secured control of the display's contents, then shoved the jewelry into a blue bag before fleeing quickly.
The workers inside the shopping center showed remarkable courage in an attempt to prevent the theft of the contents, as cameras spotted desperate movements of the employees pulling the jewelry from the display stands before the thieves could reach them.
One of the staff members hit the attackers with a small box in an attempt to deter them, but the culprits managed to complete their operation and escape running through the nearby streets.
An employee at a neighboring store described the incident as occurring suddenly, noting the appearance of the two individuals carrying a hammer and bag before starting to destroy the facade, according to "The Sun" newspaper.
This incident is part of a series of similar attacks targeting jewelry stores in different areas of London recently, prompting an increased security presence around the affected sites.
The security authorities recorded a similar incident just two days before the Richmond event, where "Sultan" jewelry store on Uxbridge Road in Shepherd’s Bush was attacked with hammers.
The police forces succeeded in reaching the site within three minutes, resulting in the arrest of a 33-year-old man suspected of involvement in the armed robbery, while the pursuit of the rest of the gang members who fled on motorcycles continues.
