ElSisi Refuses Military Solution Between the US and Iran

Khaberni - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Bazshkian conducted telephone discussions on Saturday dealing with developments in the Iranian nuclear file and how to contain the escalation in the region.

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, mentioned that the call addressed the developments of the Iranian nuclear file.

The spokesperson clarified that President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed to his Iranian counterpart Masoud Bazshkian Egypt's grave concern regarding the escalating tension in the region.

El-Sisi emphasized the necessity to avoid escalation and rejected military solutions, affirming that diplomatic solutions are the only and best way to resolve the crisis, ensuring that the Middle East is spared further tension and instability.

He further indicated that El-Sisi confirmed Egypt's continuous efforts aimed at bringing the United States and Iran back to the negotiation table, reaching a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue, enhancing regional and international stability.

He added that El-Sisi affirmed the same stance to U.S. President Donald Trump during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Davos Forum recently.

For his part, Bazshkian stated that any aggression or attack on Iranian territory would be met with a decisive response, and the Iranian presidency stated in a declaration that Bazshkian told his Egyptian counterpart that Tehran continues to seek to resolve issues and settle them through diplomacy, but "from a position of dignity and equality".

At the same time, he expressed hope that the opposing party would realize that threats and force cannot coerce Iran into negotiating.
