Khaberni - Ali Nasseri, the head of the Crisis Management Organization in Tehran, informed the "SNN" channel that more than 300 underground buildings, including parking lots and subway stations, will be utilized as shelters for the residents of the Iranian capital.
Nasseri confirmed that the shelters would accommodate about 2.5 million people, adding that 82 subway stations have been designated as shelters and are already equipped. In the near future, signs and informational logos about them will be installed.
On January 26, US President Donald Trump stated that a "massive fleet" was headed towards Iran. He expressed hope that Tehran would come to the negotiation table and make a "fair and balanced" deal that involves a full abandonment of nuclear weapons.
The American president also noted that in June 2025, the United States carried out strikes against nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic, known as "Midnight Hammer," and warned that "the next attack will be worse," urging to "prevent that from happening."
In response to Trump's statements, Tehran threatened the entire military infrastructure of the United States and its allies in the Middle East in the event of any aggression against Iran. On January 28, Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, emphasized that Iran is ready to negotiate, but it must occur "without threats and intimidation" by the United States.
