Khaberni - Youssef Shawarbeh, the head of the Greater Amman Municipality's committee, inaugurated on Saturday the Al-Jundi park and forest in Wadi Al-Ash in Al-Rusayfah area, following its rehabilitation, with the presence of the Rusayfah district director Ayman Al-Roumi, the head of Rusayfah municipality committee, Hussam Al-Najdawi, and the deputy head of the Amman Municipality committee, Ziad Al-Reehani, and the city manager, Ahmad Al-Malkawi.

The inauguration of the park is part of the Municipality's strategic plan to improve the environmental situation, increase green spaces, and create sustainable environmental spaces in various areas within and outside Amman.

The rehabilitation work of the park, which spans 350 dunams, included complete fencing of the area, constructing an advanced drainage system for rainwater that considers the topography of the area, in addition to building stone chains at several sites to form natural barriers to prevent soil erosion.

Moreover, the Amman Municipality planted 17,500 trees suitable to the climatic and topographic nature of the area, produced from its nurseries, in addition to equipping the site with a modern irrigation network and a lighting system based on environmentally friendly solar-powered lights.

Concurrently, Shawarbeh launched the second phase of the environmental forest project carried out by the Amman Municipality in the Pepsi Pool area (Farah Park).

The Municipality has commenced the second phase of rehabilitating the Pepsi Pool, by converting an area of 85 dunams into an environmental forest following the completion of the construction works in the previous contract.

This phase included spreading 300,000 cubic meters of red soil, planting 3,500 trees produced by the Municipality nurseries, carefully selected to suit the climatic conditions of the site, in addition to implementing an irrigation network for the site utilizing the collection well created in the first phase as a feeder to ensure the sustainability of watering the plants.
