Khaberni – Jordanians are anticipating the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan after 19 days, a month that embodies the spirit of fasting and piety among Muslims around the world, from sunrise to sunset.
According to astronomical estimates and calculations, Ramadan is expected to start on Thursday, February 19th, with the month of Sha'ban having 30 days this year.
Local calendar data indicates that the fasting hours in Jordan will be about 12 hours and 38 minutes on the first day of the month, gradually increasing to reach 13 hours and 32 minutes by the end of the holy month.
The Fajr (dawn) prayer call on the first day of Ramadan will be raised at 5:53 AM, while the time for Iftar (breaking the fast) at the Maghrib prayer call will be at 6:31 PM.
As the days of the month progress, the fasting hours increase by an average of two minutes per day, reaching 13 hours and 32 minutes of fasting on the last days of Ramadan, with the Fajr prayer call raised at 5:20 AM, and the fast being broken at the Maghrib prayer call at 6:52 PM.
Jordanians will search for the crescent moon of Ramadan on the evening of the 29th of Sha'ban, corresponding to the night of February 17th; if the sighting is confirmed, Wednesday, February 18th will be the first day of the blessed month, and if not confirmed, Thursday, February 19th will be the beginning of Ramadan.
