Khaberni - The US Department of State, on Saturday, approved a potential sale of interceptor missiles from the Patriot system and related equipment to Saudi Arabia at an estimated cost of nine billion dollars.
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon), in a statement issued by it, said that Lockheed Martin is the primary contractor in this deal.
It noted that the State Department's approval was in response to Saudi Arabia's request to purchase 730 interceptor missiles of the advanced Patriot model PAC-3MSE.
It stated that the proposed deal will not alter the military balance in the Middle East and will not affect American defense readiness.
