Khaberni - The famous actress Catherine O'Hara, winner of two Emmy Awards and known for her roles in movies "Home Alone" and "Best in Show", has passed away at the age of 71.
According to her agency "CAA", O'Hara passed away today, Friday, at her home in Los Angeles, after a short illness.
O'Hara's artistic career in Hollywood spanned over five decades, starting with the Canadian sketch comedy series "Second City Television", which she co-created alongside Eugene Levy, earning her first Emmy award and four other nominations.
Thereafter, she appeared in a number of motion pictures, including "After Hours," "Beetlejuice," and the first two installments of the famous Christmas movie "Home Alone," where she played the mother of Kevin, portrayed by Macaulay Culkin. O'Hara maintained a close friendship with Culkin and honored him during the ceremony when he received a star on the Walk of Fame in 2023.
O'Hara was also a frequent collaborator with director Christopher Guest, participating in his mockumentary films such as "Best in Show" and "For Your Consideration" among others.
She also lent her voice to a number of beloved animated films, including "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Chicken Little". And
Her recent roles included the movie "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," where she reprised her role as Delia Deetz, alongside the action movie "Argylle" produced by "Apple".
O'Hara experienced a new artistic renaissance in her sixties, starting with her role as a wealthy housewife turned poor, Moira Rose, in the comedy series "Schitt's Creek," which was aired on the CBC network, co-starring Eugene and Dan Levy and Annie Murphy. She earned her second Emmy Award for this role, which opened the door for her to other prominent television roles.
Catherine O'Hara was born in Toronto, but she became a beloved figure in Los Angeles, where she was appointed the honorary mayor of Brentwood in 2021. The deceased left behind her husband, production designer Bo Welch, and her two sons, Matthew and Luke, along with her siblings.
