Khaberni - The Israeli occupation army denied today, Friday, that it had adopted the Health Ministry's toll in the Gaza Strip regarding the number of martyrs since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, in response to reports published by Israeli media that spoke about an implicit acknowledgment of these figures.
The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Nadav Shushani, stated in a post on the X platform that "the published information does not reflect the army's official figures," confirming that any data related to this file "will be announced only through official and approved channels."
The denial came one day after a report by Haaretz newspaper stated that the Israeli army "agreed to the estimated figures from the Ministry of Health run by Hamas in Gaza," without specifying the sources of its information, prompting other local media to circulate the report.
Haaretz pointed out that the Israeli army "is examining data on Palestinian casualties to distinguish between the numbers of fighters and civilians, amid ongoing controversy over the credibility of the figures issued from Gaza," according to the Israeli newspaper.
The Ministry of Health in the Strip announced that at least 71,667 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed since the beginning of the Israeli genocide war, numbers that the United Nations considers reliable, despite Israel's ongoing skepticism about them on the grounds that the ministry is managed by the Hamas movement.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health does not separate between civilians and fighters in its statistics, but confirms that more than half of the victims are women and children, indicating that the figures do not include those whose bodies are still under the rubble or the indirect fatalities resulting from the war.
According to the ministry, 492 people have been martyred due to Israeli strikes since October 10, the date the ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian factions went into effect.
