Victim of an Israeli Raid on Southern Lebanon

Khaberni - A person was killed today, Friday, in an Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Sidiqin in the Sur district of southern Lebanon, according to the Israeli military which stated that the target was a Hezbollah activist working on the restoration of military infrastructure.

This airstrike is the latest incident in a series of repeated breaches of Lebanese sovereignty since November 2023.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported in a statement that the strike targeted a vehicle on the outskirts of the town of Sidiqin, resulting in one person killed.

Additionally, the National News Agency reported that Israeli drones carried out multiple strikes in southern Lebanon today, including the area between the towns of Markaba and Aadloun with a sound bomb.

The agency also reported that the towns of Al-Khiyam and Aita al-Shaab were targeted this morning with sound bombs, while the Israeli artillery shelled the area between the towns of Maroun al-Ras and Aitaroun with several flares.

This escalation comes despite a ceasefire agreement that went into effect on November 27, 2024, and involved the withdrawal of Israeli forces from border villages and towns within 60 days, before the Lebanese government agreed to extend the deadline until February 18, 2025.

However, Israeli forces are still positioned at 5 border points and have committed over 7,000 aerial breaches and more than 2,400 military activities within the operational area of UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon.

This morning, the skies over the capital Beirut and its southern suburbs witnessed intense low-altitude Israeli aircraft flights, exacerbating a state of tension and anxiety among local residents.
