Irbid Municipality Removes a Dilapidated Abandoned Building to Preserve Public Safety

Khaberni - The Greater Municipality of Irbid removed, on Friday, an old, abandoned building on the brink of collapse on King Faisal II Street in the Al-Manara area west of the city, posing a health hazard and a threat to public safety.

Imad Al-Azzam, the head of the Irbid Greater Municipality committee, stated that the demolition of the building is part of the municipality's plan to address dangerous and abandoned buildings within the city, preserve the safety of citizens and property, and reduce environmental and health risks in vital areas.

He added that the building that was demolished was a real danger to passersby and neighboring residents, as well as being an environment attractive to insects and rodents, snakes, and a gathering place for stray dogs; this necessitated immediate intervention to demolish it in accordance with the relevant legislations and regulations.

He indicated that the municipality, in coordination with the relevant authorities, continues to inventory abandoned buildings at risk of collapse in various areas of the municipality, and to take necessary actions in cooperation with their owners, ensuring public safety and improving the urban landscape.

Al-Azzam affirmed the Greater Municipality of Irbid's commitment to implementing these operations within the highest safety standards, serving the public interest, and urged citizens to cooperate with the municipality and report any abandoned or dangerous buildings to preserve public safety and the local environment.
