Public Transport Vehicles Percentage in Jordan Decreased by 03 to Reach 40446 Vehicles

Khaberni - The fleet of public transport vehicles under the jurisdiction of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority decreased by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of last year, making the total number of vehicles 40,446, according to the authority’s performance indicators.

The fleet of smart application vehicles recorded a decrease of 1.4% reaching a total of 11,925 vehicles.

The number of yellow taxis also decreased by 0.9% during the comparison period, reaching 5,268 vehicles within the jurisdiction of the Land Transport Regulation.

Similarly, the number of public service "service" vehicles decreased by approximately 2%, reaching 982 vehicles during the same period.

Public buses recorded a decrease in the fourth quarter of last year by 0.4%, totaling 796 buses.

The capital expenditure of the authority during the last year was 11,655 million dinars, while customer satisfaction with public transport services was 68%, and the coverage rate of buses per 1000 inhabitants was 0.52 buses.

Regarding the classification of small vehicles licensed to operate in public transport services by the authority, in the fourth quarter of 2025, they were distributed as 15,991 gasoline-powered vehicles, 14,116 hybrid vehicles, and the number of electric vehicles reached 1,134.

As for specialized transport companies, their total increased by 2.4%, reaching 346 companies, including 156 companies for general cargo, 115 container companies, and 30 oil and derivatives companies.

The number of tractor heads remained stable during the comparison period at 19,852 heads, while the number of trailers increased by 16.7%, reaching 25,043 trailers by the end of the last quarter of last year.

The average age of the freight fleet was 18.1 years, while the average operational age for large buses was 13.3 years and for small buses 14.3 years.
