Malek Haddad explores in Lebanon the development of the transportation sector in the Arab region

Khaberni  - Within the framework of enhancing Arab joint cooperation in the land transport sector, the Minister Plenipotentiary - Dr. Bahjat Abu Al-Nasr, head of the Transport and Tourism Sector at the Arab League, and Engineer Malek Haddad, the Secretary-General of the Arab Union for Land Transport, along with board members of the union from Lebanon, Mr. Carlos Hashem and Jawad Hashem, made an official visit to the Lebanese Republic where they met with the Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, Engineer Faez Rasamni.
During the meeting, a number of vital topics related to the development of the transport sector in the Arab region were discussed, including:
The development of infrastructure where the two parties discussed the topic of updating the Al-Masnaa border crossing expressing His Excellency Minister Rasamni's readiness to pursue the development and updating of the crossing to facilitate the movement of transport to and from brotherly Lebanon.
The two sides also discussed the importance of standardizing vehicle weights and axle loads among Arab countries, as part of the efforts aimed at achieving integration in the Arab land transport system.
The discussion also covered the possibility of implementing the Arab transit booklet system among Arab countries, which would facilitate the smooth movement of passengers and goods across Arab borders.

His Excellency, the Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, welcomed the visiting delegation and confirmed the Lebanese government's commitment to study all the topics discussed during the meeting, emphasizing the importance of Arab joint cooperation in developing the transport sector.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency Minister Rasamni expressed his hope that the Lebanese capital, Beirut, would host the next board meeting of the Arab Union for Land Transport scheduled to be held in May 2026, reaffirming the depth of fraternal relations and Lebanon's commitment to supporting the Arab joint work process.

This visit comes in the context of the ongoing efforts of the Arab League and the Arab Union for Land Transport to enhance integration among member states and develop the land transport system in the Arab region.
