The late artist Huda Shaarawi, in a previous television interview, recounted her struggles with housemaids, particularly one of her maids of Ghanaian nationality.
She said that she suffers with the maids, who cause her nerve fatigue, explaining that they only hear what they want, do not know Arab and Syrian customs and traditions, some are emotionally cold, and they know nothing about cleanliness and the needs of the homeowner.
Regarding her Ghanaian maid, she pointed out that she had been working for her for 8 months (at the time of the interview), and she used to communicate with her in English, but later discovered that the maid spoke Arabic fluently.
She refused to describe her talk about her suffering with her maid as racism, saying that she had 12 maids before, and this maid was number 13 working for her, but she was the most exhausting, according to her description.
The Syrian internal security forces arrested a suspect in the murder of the Syrian artist Huda Shaarawi, just hours after the crime occurred.
The commander of the Syrian internal security, Osama Atika, stated, "In the immediate follow-up to the incident of the murder of the citizen Huda Shaarawi, information was received that she was found dead inside her home".
He added: "After the investigations started and evidence was collected, it was found that the death occurred on Thursday morning as a result of an attack with a solid object that led to severe bleeding, and the body was transferred to the forensic medicine awaiting the final medical report".
Atika revealed that initial investigations indicated suspicion of her maid, who left the home after the crime occurred, and consequently, specialized units tracked the suspect's movements and were able to arrest her on Thursday night.
The suspect confessed during the investigation to committing the crime, while investigations continue to uncover her motives and the circumstances, in preparation for referring the file to the competent court.
According to available information, the late actress was attacked while she was sleeping by her maid, who hit her on the head, leading to her death, as she was found lifeless in her bed.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated in a statement: "On Thursday afternoon, a tragic killing incident took place in Bab Serijeh neighborhood in Damascus, where citizen Huda Shaarawi was found murdered inside her home".
It added: "Upon receiving the report, the internal security units and criminal investigation teams immediately began the necessary legal proceedings, which included cordoning off the site of the incident, collecting criminal evidence and analyzing it, and documenting all field data".
