Khaberni - Amid news of AI's potential to surpass humans, a new study reassures.
"It will not surpass humans in creativity"
Results of research have confirmed that artificial intelligence will not surpass humans in creativity, but many experts believe that the quality of AI outputs will depend on the quality of its inputs, with standards changing as artificial intelligence develops in the coming years.
According to a recent study, published in the journal Creative Behaviour, the supposed "creativity" of artificial intelligence is subject to strict mathematical limits.
David Cropley, a professor of engineering innovation at Southern Australia University and the sole researcher of the study, discovered that the limits of AI's capabilities are between the levels of amateurs and professionals among humans, meaning AI will never exceed the creativity of the most skilled artists.
However, these results have not alleviated fears that AI might lead to the disappearance of creative sectors in the economy, as experts still debate the creative potential of artificial intelligence.

Defining creativity is one of the biggest obstacles, just like "smart" or "attractive", especially since "creativity" is a distinctly human trait, carrying different meanings in various fields, and defying easy or quantitative measurement.
Cropley applied the standard definition of creativity to the outputs of various massive language models, such as ChatGPT.
According to a statement, he found that "while AI can simulate creative behavior - quite convincingly at times - its actual creative capacity is limited to the level of an ordinary human, and will never reach professional or expert standards under the current design principles."
Cropley also said: "Many believe that ChatGPT's ability to generate stories, poems, or images necessarily means it is creative. However, generating something does not necessarily imply creativity. Usually, 60% of people are below average in creativity, so it's natural for a large part of the society to think that massive language models like ChatGPT are creative, though they are not. Creators will recognize the weaknesses in generative AI systems."

In turn, Jack Shaw, a strategic expert in e-commerce who employs and evaluates experience-based learning models for creating and testing marketing content, said that what is stated in the study is true according to some definitions.
He added: "If creativity means rephrasing the idea, setting new cultural standards, and bearing responsibility for risky choices that may fail, then humans lead. Models compile patterns optimized in terms of probability; they do not carry intentions or living contexts or stakes and do not set goals."
Lack of Human Experiences
Alisha Brown, founder and CEO of two companies that help researchers, thought leaders, and brands transform living experiences into books, films, and campaigns said: "The biggest gap in AI creativity lies in that it will never possess a human experience."
She continued: "There is no experience-based learning model that wakes up with a childhood trauma or cultural heritage or ethical conflict, then decides: 'I'll produce a film or write a book that may cost me relationships, but it could free others.' The inherent 'motivation' behind the work - the readiness to risk reputation or income or affiliation for an idea - represents a big part of what is considered obvious creativity, and that’s what AI lacks. It’s about the capacity to affect and depth, not a clear mathematical proof that AI will never match or surpass humans."

It is to be noted that, according to other standards, AI can be considered creative.
Some experts believe that any deficiency observed in artificial intelligence is only due to a lack of human inputs.
They see that the definition of creativity will continue to evolve as long as the debate over the creative capability of artificial intelligence continues.
