Hajj Tawfiq Economic Summit between Amman and Damascus Next Week

Khaberni - The head of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Senator Khalil Hajj Tawfiq, said that the capital Amman will host an economic summit for the business sector next week, coinciding with the visit of a high-level Syrian economic delegation including the Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar. The delegation includes the head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Alaa Al-Ali, and the head of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Engineer Issam Al-Ghriwati, along with several members of the chamber's board of directors and representatives of companies and economic, commercial, service, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
Hajj Tawfiq added that the visit program includes holding a Jordanian-Syrian economic forum and a high-level joint economic meeting with the participation of the Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar, and the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Engineer Yaarub Al-Qudah, and the heads of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce Federation and the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, and private sector representatives, to discuss developing trade and investment relations and facilitating trade exchange, customs, and logistical procedures and investment opportunities and production integration in various sectors, alongside the role of the chambers of commerce in activating twinning agreements and partnerships, and mechanisms for follow-up and forming joint committees and future work plans.
According to a statement from the chamber today, Thursday, Hajj Tawfiq indicated that during the visit, a twinning agreement will be signed between the Amman and Damascus Chambers of Commerce aimed at enhancing economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between the business sectors of the two countries, and developing institutional partnerships within a sustainable framework that serves mutual interests.
Hajj Tawfiq explained that the agreement represents a practical step towards rebuilding economic bridges between Jordan and Syria, and activating trade cooperation based on well-studied institutional foundations, emphasizing that the upcoming phase will see the formulation of clear executive plans and the formation of joint work committees to address challenges and overcome obstacles and expand areas of cooperation and increase the volume of trade exchanges.
He stressed the importance of investing in the partnership atmosphere that the agreement will establish in enhancing communication between businessmen, building mutual trust, and creating a more flexible environment for the flow of goods and services, confirming that the bilateral meetings to be held on the sidelines of the forum represent a practical starting point for building new economic partnerships and future cooperation opportunities between the private sectors in both countries.
The visit is an important step towards deepening economic integration between the two countries, transforming traditional trade relationships into long-term strategic partnerships that support economic growth, create job opportunities, and enhance the competitiveness of the private sector in both countries.
