Khaberni - Dubai Municipality announced an ambitious international initiative aimed at building the world's first residential villa to be fully executed via automated and robotic systems, as part of a broader strategy to modernize the construction sector in the Emirate.
The announcement was made during the launch of the "Innovation and Research Center in Construction" (04 ConTech Valley) at "Expo City Dubai", which will serve as a permanent environment for testing advanced structural systems.
Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghulaitha, the Director General of Dubai Municipality, confirmed that advanced technologies are a fundamental pillar in the strategy to develop the construction sector, pointing out that automation improves efficiency, sustainability, and the ability to face long-term challenges.
Instead of just testing individual machines, the project aims to automate the entire construction process, with the completed villa needing to meet actual housing standards and not just experimental ones.
More than 25 technology companies and academic institutions participate in the initiative through an international consortium, managed by Dubai Municipality in cooperation with Zakoa Ventures and Firth Group, focusing on scalability, economic efficiency, and integration at the construction site.
Dubai established the "Con Tech Task Force" in partnership with "Dubai Chambers" to unify the efforts of government agencies, developers, investors, and researchers in establishing regulatory, investment frameworks, and technological standards that accelerate the adoption of technologies while ensuring quality and safety.
In cooperation with "Sobha Realty", the municipality unveiled the "70-70 Strategy" which aims to transfer 70% of construction activities to off-site manufacturing, and automate 70% of production processes in factories by 2030, reducing waste, improving quality, and shortening time frames.
